Seawind
Seawind has been on the forefront in the development of the best in class amphibious aircraft. The company started production as kits in 1992 before its journey into production of a completed aircraft.
The company made tremendous progress under the leadership of Richard “Dick” F. Silva, and has been relaunched under the leadership of Andrew Urey (by Phoenix AmeriCap Group). The Seawind boasts of a very unique design with the engine pod jutting from the front of its large vertical fin which adds to making it a relatively quiet aircraft. The futuristic design of this 1990’s aircraft is also well noted for its appearance that looks like an aircraft of a future era in 3030. Its sleek curves and birdlike demeanor has been both controversial, and admirable , in drawing whispers and converting onlookers into enthusiasts.
The visually striking Seawind combined with its feature packed frame is an aircraft like no other. The Seawimd is once again taking to the skies with its awe inspiring capabilities and looks.
The relaunch of the Seawind will start with the simultaneous completion of the FAA certification of the aircraft for production, and the manufacture of the first production Seawind. The aggressive launch will commemorate the original 300C complete with 1oz Richard “Dick” F. Silva gold con and certificate authenticating the production of each aircraft in the vision of Mr. Silva before the development of the next generation.
The Seawind is a high performance amphibian aircraft capable of taking off and landing in both salt, and fresh water on gravel, turf, and unimproved landing fields.
Its state of the art retracting landing gear are functional for ground use, and retract for water landings. The Seawind requires just 18 inches of water to be nestled on the shores or lower gear and the Seawind can be powered onto dry land directly from the water. It is the only amphibian comparable to a fast conventional airplane. This true marvel of technology is a four place amphibian capable of take off from water at 3200lbs (1451.496 KG) and 1100 ft (.335 KM) and 1460ft (.445 KM) at 3400lbs (1,542KG) with a rate of climb at 1200 ft/minute fully loaded. It is even powerful enough for high altitude takeoff at high temperature. The sky is truly the limit with the Seawind. The perspicacious aircraft is even capable of takeoff from glassy water in 19 seconds, without making waves. This is a truly extraordinary seaplane.
Whether it is flying to remote tropical areas, oil and gas installation, beating rush hour traffic, Island hopping, or an air ambulance, making an emergency trip, the Seawind is the best in-class, and exceeds expectations. These are just a few of the many attributes that make the Seawind the most unimposing yet versatile advancement of aviation ever. Yet, it is more cost effective than a helicopter. The Cabin of the Seawind is designed with a combination of safety and luxury to provide complimentary safety, and next century aesthetics to the rest of the aircraft.
The safe aircraft can stand up to 15 Gs force, 9Gs down, 6Gs up, and has been tested to save lives. The aircraft features unrestrictive panoramic views due to the mid mounted wings, and the wrap around windshield for both the pilot, and passengers in the rear. The Seawind is also designed with the widest cabin in its class for maximum comfort. The wide body cabin is designed to seat four adults comfortably, and safely with bucket seats in the front. The rear seats have plenty of legroom, and lots of width to seat two adults, and two children. The rear seats can be folded bench style, and removed to sleep two for camping. The back of the rear seats has a 6foot deep luggage area, to accompany two external luggage areas. The quiet fresh air inlets, overhead outlets and the heating vents add more cool air in tandem with the ceiling fan, and defrosters for flights in the tropics, or on a ski resort. The design of the engine does not only allow for a low noise flight on lakes side vacation communities, it also serves as a safety feature that keeps the spinning propellers out of reach, while still providing 300hp.
The air craft gives 200MPH at 100% power, 190MPH at 75% power, 180MPH at 65 power, 169MPH at 55 economy cruise. The Seawind burns only 13 gallons per hour with a range of over 1460 Miles. The aircraft has a 74 gallon wet wing fuel tank which gives the aircraft over 960 miles with our refueling. The capacity can be raised to 110 Gallons with optional auxiliary tanks to over 1460 miles. The aircraft is also designed to include flaperons where the ailerons droop with the flaps to 20 degrees, which gives this uniquely built aircraft slow speed handling characteristics, and straight ahead stall at 59MPH. The elevator and stabilizer are built into the slipstream to give the pilot unmatched pitch stability for a hands off flight as the Seawind has a gross weight of 3400 lbs, making it the highest in its class. The useful load is up to an unbelievable 1200lbs.
After FAA certification the next generation of Seawind will feature improved safety and aesthetics while maintaining the curves of the Seawind.
